Yo peeps! It has been some time since I updated this blog. Really sorry to those who actually still visit the blog once in a while. Anyway just to inform everyone that 'R.E' has disbanded...and that explains why there is this absence of updates rite...lolx

Irregardless, Elson mi has since gathered a bunch of young dancers from NUS Dance BLAST! to form a new group called 'E-STYLEZ'!!!! And their very first dance competition will be 'Funkamania!', a prestigious competition that has been around for years in Singapore. Imagine it has already been there since I started dancing in JC which is like 7 years back? Haha...yes...I am old already...

Nevertheless, my passion for dance has neva died...OKie...pls show yr support and love for them as I promised to work hard to bring u creativity and entertainment through them in my choreography! Check out the new 'E-Stylez' blog - http://www.e-stylez.blogspot.com

It has been some time since I updated the blog already...haha...wonder if anyone still visit it. Well, where shall I start...hmm...been feeling really down the past few weeks cos 'something' happened. It somehow affected me quite a bit...though I feel better as time passes, I will still think about it and get bothered by that now and then. Haiz...wonder if the worse is yet to come...I really dun know how to face it when 'it' really comes.

Anyway, enough of my personal 'emo' problem...lolx...I juz came back from rehearsal for this year's 'RE:MIX' dance competition. 'R.E' is invited be one of the exhibition team for the competition along with F4, JDI, SFB, BFC (wonder if they are still inside) and few other renowned hip hop groups in Singapore to raise funds for the needy children, like kids whom contracted cancer at a young age, kids whom are abused by their parents, kids whom grow up without parents in the family, and many many others....So what is gonna happened is that the exhibition teams will actually collaborate with the competing teams in the competition to raise funds for these children. I thought it is really meaningful and I feel that it is a great opportunity to repay the society. Well, not to mention that personally I love kids and I sympathize their situations. Hence, when Ewan mentioned it to me, I immediately agreed.

Saying 'yes' also means that I got more dance rehearsals now. I am currently also involved in a dance concert by CFA which is during september. I will probably not find a job so soon then since I am involved in these two 'projects'. Guess I shall enjoy myself first before it is too late yah since I already graduated and won't have much chance!!! Actually, I am being shortlisted for a job in SDT and now still waiting for their reply. Quite a headache now cos I dun know how should I handle if they really gonna hired me...haiz...problem problem...

The rehearsal today is great...saw many old friends...and we learnt 4 sets of 8 for the opening item. Guess I am old though, cos after that session, my whole body (especially my arms) aches very much till now..sob sob...think I too long neva exercise already so gotta keep up my fitness before I get fat loh!!! Tmr is gonna be along day for mi...tuition in the morning, dance practice wit rebecca in the afternoon, then tuition again in the late evening..sianz sia... =(

Ok... i'm sorry. I've disappeared for the longest time now. Haha. Been really busy after the exams. SO much for holidays eh? Whether or not it's holidays, i'm always busy. haha. SO here're some updates about the lastest happenings in my life... Let's just start off with tuition updates first...

Well, some of u might know by now that i give tuition part-time. And the latest new kid that i got is from china. He's 12 years this year (primary 6) and i'm teaching him english. So, what's so interesting about him? Here's the catch, i think he's 'In-love' or 'fantasizes' about me. Wierd? Yes! i know it's FREAKING scary... What makes him freaky? He asks me funny questions during class (Obviously it's not academically related). Here're some of the dialogues i had with him during tuition lessons.

Tuition lesson A
Kid: Teacher, do you have a boyfriend?
Me: Why is it very important? And how is that related to what we're studying now?
Kid: No lah, it's just very important for me to know.
Me: WHAT?! Important? U crazy ah... Your results are more important. And whether or not i have a boyfriend is practically none of your business. Now let's get back to the english question.
Kid: (*Looks sad & refuses to talk to me for the whole lesson*)

Tuition lesson B
Kid: Teacher, I know that CCA (activity) u're in!
Me: What is it?
Kid: U're a volleyball player right?
Me: Hello, look at my height? Do i look like i can even touch the net?
Kid: Hiya~ I think you look like a 'Hot' volleyball player
Me: (*By this time, my hair was on ends*)

Tuition lesson C
Kid: Teacher, do you like a go to the library?
Me: (Obviously i HATE the library. I'm not even a studious person. But as a tuition teacher, i should set a 'good' example so here was my reply...) Yes! i love going to the library. Why do you ask?
Kid: Oh, i like to go to the library too! I go there to do homework and i spend a lot of time......(& he rambles on & on. If National Library needs an Ambassador, i think he'll make a good match =p )
Me: Ok good for you
Kid: So which library do you usually go to?
Me: School library
Kid: (Looks a bit disappointed) Oh... Why don't you go to Toa Payoh library? I usually go there? Then we can study together...
Me: (So totally freaked out)

I really have a passion for teaching... But this guy really freaks me out.. However, i think he's just going through puberty... If any one day, he does any thing funny to me, i'll probably kick his balls & teach him a lesson... haha... (No lah... just kidding) Well, but this kid is interesting lah. haha...

What is my result???

*Drum roll.....* Guess who is it???? Haha...It is elson here blogging...It has been some time since I last blog, not to mention about Rebecca. She worse than me..lolx. Sorry lah, both of us busy with different stuff. She is busy giving tuition, as for mi leh, I have been busy scouting for job. Unfortunately, nothing seems to interest me, so think I will probably take a break first before I come out and work...haha..lazy me = )

Anyway, I am supposed to receive my result yesterday, but dun know why, there is some cock up with the system and I can only know it, earliest on monday...sianz..think it only happens to me!!! So suay lah...now damn worried cos there is this particular module that I am not confident, and I afraid that I might fail it, which means I have to stay for another semester before I can graduate!!! Hopefully that wont happen, or I sure curse and swear...crossing my fingers rite now = (
Btw think Rebecca did quite well, but she is still not satisfied...she always like that one loh...jus kidding...hehe...

Alright, I shall just pray hard and look forward to monday for my result now....

Hey peeps...sorry for not updating the blog. Was seriously ill the past few days, so was staying at home, lying on the bed all the times...too sick to do anything. Haiz..so shitty can...to fall sick during the holidays when I should be out having fun, shopping ( opps..tink I got no money), and most importantly dancing!!! Unfortunately, it seems like there is no dance comp being organised recently...especially competitions which have a duo category...wierd..sianz...

K...gonna take some rest, me feeling lethargic from the illness. Will try to post some updates soon =)

Say goodbye to Exams, Hello 'Holidays'

Ok, NUS exams are finally over. I've been slacking and pigging out for quite a while now. Hmm, come to think of it, Holiday's are pretty boring. My normal daily routine :

11am: Wakey wakey
11-11.30am: Lay in bed and stone
11.30am: Finally get out of bed
1pm: Getting ready to go out
10pm: Reach home
11-3am: Play games or watch VCDs
3am onwards: Sweet dreams

How interesting is my holiday? I wish i could go overseas to spend my holiday =) There'll be Shopping, Eating, Shopping, Eating..... haha! But guess my parents are pretty busy to take the time off for a short trip.

Question: What's the good thing about gg on a holiday with parents?
Answer: You don't get to fork out a single cent. =)

Question: What is the bad thing about gg on a holiday with parents?
Answer: You'll get to do boring and non-interesting stuff.

But i guess i'll make it a point to go on a holiday to somewhere nearby. These days hasn't been the best for me. THere're days that i wake up and feel moody and sometimes a little sad. I wish i could go somewhere that would brighten up my life a little. Hmm, i was thinking about somewhere with the sun, sand and beaches... Bintan??? My sister told me that it's a nice place to chill out relax, but no shopping of course. hmm, it sounds like a good idea eh? Not too expensive too...

Watch many movies lately... Spiderman 3, 200 Pounds beauty, Nightmare detective....

Nightmare detective is a super grossed out show so please don't think about watching it. haha. It doesn't have much substance...

A GrEat HaPPy LaBour Day tO EveRyOnE!!!

Happy Labour day to everyone! Haha...hope everyone will enjoy their holidays..especially the dancefloor finalists whom have put up a great show yesterday! Everyone look good and did well yesterday! So envious can...haha...congrats to Vas & Pris anyway, for being the 'Dancefloor' champ! =)

Well, guess it is not much of a surprise since after the first performance, they are already leading with a high 38%, a difference of 10% compared to the second-placed M & S. Hence, in other words, it is even more difficult for other groups to catch up. Well, I really do pity for Soul fusion though cos it seems like they really never generate enough public interest...haiz...they only get like 7 %?!! How can it be???

Anyway, I voted for F4 & platinum to show some support for local talents. (Reb voted for soul fusion) Known F4 even before the competition...haha...so based on friendship, how to not vote for them leh...lolx. As for 'platinum'..din have much chance to interact with them in the competition and get to know them better, but still tat aside, I have to admit I am really impressed and like their two items yesterday. The choreography is brilliant!!! Btw for those who dun know yet..their choreographer is 'Patrick', a renowned hip hop instructor who also happens to teach mi & Reb in NUS too.

Well, guess people will start toking abot whether they are deserved winners, or they won merely cos they have more rich supporters etc. Hmm...initially I kinda share the same sentiments actually. But come to think of it, all these are just part and parcels of life and you just have to accept it. After all, they have came a long way and have put in their best for the competition. So I feel perhaps ppl should stop accusing them of having rich friends or something like tat. Even if it is really so, based on the the great amount of money spent in total, by themselves, supporters and fans, I tink they deserve to win. Moreover, it is not their fault. It is nobody's fault, it is just the 'flaw' existing in reality shows (even S'pore Idol, Super Star etc) that is yet to be addressed properly.

No matter wat, think everyone in the dancefloor comp is a 'winner' cos the experience gained in the process is something that you cannot buy with money.

Alright...just a quick update about myself for today. I just did a shoot today with Kimberly, her sis Vanessa, and Gico. We had some fun 'dancing' and doing stupid stuff during the shoot..haha..it is really enjoyable and great to be with them! =)
Later, we went to Burger King to have our dinner!!! We chatted a bit, took a couple of pictures, 'blah blah blah'...then head towards the MRT station after that as we all had a long day and wanna go home early and get some rest. And then u guess wat...while we were waiting for train to come, somebody shouted, 'RE!' I got a shock and look up...it is actually 'Berg' from JDI! So coincidental can! Din manage to tok to him though as he was on the lift going up. Anyway according to Vanessa, when he shouted, somebody actually 'kay poh' and try to check 'RE' out. The way she describe it is quite hilarious and it is surprising that there are people who are still interested in us..lolx

Before I go off.. jus wanna wish all those who are having exams the coming weeks, a VERY VERY BIG GD LUCK AND STUDY HARD K!!! And for those who might not have exams like JR...gd for you! I will take back the gd luck that I gave just now then...cos you are already very lucky ^_^
While study is impt, it is gd that you shuld enjoy yourself and take a break at times too. So for those who are interested to watch free movies, go check out this website- 'www.movie6.net' , exclusively for 'RE' fans only k..haha..It allows you to watch updated movies like 300, TMNT etc through 'streaming' form, which is something like youtube. The quality might not be very gd but it is still watchable and can save ya some money! So go take a look ! =)

Yessss....4 papers down, one more to go next week. What a tiring week for mi, had a paper on monday, followed by wednesday, thursday and friday!!! Damn shitty can..not to mention I have not been attending classes because of dancefloor commitments. And when dancefloor is over, my school classes kinda ended. Haha...so it is my first time reading the notes before the exam..haha..just hope everything turn out fine and I can graduate this sem =)

Well, tomorrow is the dancefloor final!!! Wish all the contestants the best of luck and rock the dance floor!!! I am sure it is gonna be a great show!!! =)

R.E. having exams till 2 May... & it sucks

Sorry for not being able to do updates. Been missing in action for quite some time eh? Well, Guess why? It's the NUS EXAM PERIOD!!!

I try to be a mugger, i try to concentrate, i try to believe in whatever i'm studying BUT... IT'S JUST NOT WORKING! haha.

The Real Me is:

I'm not a mugger
i can't concentrate
i don't believe in everything that is written in the lecture notes.

I take eons to complete reading a set of lecture notes. The content is so NOT INTERESTING. Sigh, but that's the life of studying eh. I know students study just for the sake of studying, not knowing what the hell they're studying and how it applies to real life. haha. But that's life i guess.

I remember being in secondary school and taking triple science (Pure physics, chemistry and biology) including Additional maths. Man... those were the worst days of my life. The only thing i found interesting was Maths. At least i could relate it to daily life and i count my money everyday! Kidding.

I want the exams to be over soon. Studying everyday for the past week is not fun at all. It's indeed dreadful and energy draining.

I sound whinny... Oh no... i should stop. =)

JDI is out!!!

The Dancefloor top 5 have emerged!!! I feel sorry that JDI is out...given the effort they put in for these weeks...I think they really deserved to be applauded. They are really nice and funny people to be with, cracking jokes all the times during rehearsals....lolx...but I guess their journey has to end today.

To be honest, they are technically the weaker ones among the top 6, so I kinda predicted they will be out this round. But well, the world is round and you never know what will happen so I was still guessing who the judges will pick eventually, F4 or JDI? (dun tink it is soul fusion...after all, they managed to scrape through every time)

Well, these groups are great and I am looking forward to the finals, though I already knew who the winner will most likely be...haha...anyway if any of the F4 members is reading this...jus wanna tell u guys that u all are great and I really admire yr spirit and determination despite losing Hafeez in the competition. Keep up the good work k!!! =)

Clarification of 'Ballroom' performance

Well well well, received many similar comments regarding 'Ballroom performance round' and that's good! =)

Anyway, just want to state one point... I THINK THIS COMPETITION IS SO SO UNFAIR. Those who agrees with me please raise your hand...

What are the genres to compete in?
1) Rock & Roll
2) Disco
3) Asian theme
4) Modern/ comtemp
5) Ballroom

Wait a Minute!!! Where's Hip Hop theme?? I seriously pity JDI cos there's no hip hop genre for them to shine and wow the audience. Please share my sentiments... I mean...seriously...where's the fainess in this competition?

Week after week, its not the weakest group who goes home... even the bottom 3 ain't really the lousiest 3 of the week. What is happening to reality show? Is it competition only for competitors who has the financial abilities to support themselves thoughout the show? Or is it supposed to be a show of Talent. Personally for me, its definitely not the latter...

Funny how the Ballroom couples are able to survive till now while Hip hop groups like Styles from Beyond, Break FOrce Crew are out of the competition?

Let me do the breakdown:

3 ballroom - Melvin & Sharon, Vas and Pris, Batucadas
3 Hip Hop -BFC, SFB, JDI
4 Modern/contemp - Soul Fusion, E Squared, F4, Platinum
*those in red has been ousted*

Look how many Hip hop groups have been eliminated from the competition? 2. Now its left with JDI.

Oh well, anyway, i've clarified myself and stated my stand: I SUPORT HIP HOP THEME! GO JDI! But sadly, there won't be one for the fact that the competion isn't very fair till now...

Ballroom Round - a round catered for only the ballroom dancers in the competition?

I'm back! Yep, Rebecca is back with her comments... Watch the dancefloor for Ballroom round and what can i say? First and foremost, this round seems to be only catered for the 2 ballroom couples left in this competition. Don't you think so? Come on... this is their forte! To be good in ballroom, it takes years of training and hardwork. How can u make the rest of the dancefloor competitors compete against these 2 ballroom champs? (by which i mean Melvin & Sharon and Vas and Pris)

Oh whatever... enough said... DOwn to comments and critiques proper...

Let me start off with the bottom 3:

1. JDI

2. E Squared

3. Soul Fusion

Now, based on what the judges choose this week, it clearly shows how lousy this whole competition is! (No i'm not referring to the competitors, i'm referring to the PRODUCERS of this show)

They chose to save JDI over E Squared. Based on weekly performances, i believe that E squared puts up a better performance than JDI. Don't get me wrong, i love JDI, they're so comical but based on techniques wise, they ain't so apt..

When the judges announced JDI as the 1st team to be saved i knew it was over for E Squared. Poor girls. Think they did pretty well in this show. But after whatever's been said, "The show must go on".

Goodbye E Squared... You guys are the best improved group in this competition =)

Now back to the Ballroom performance round:

1. Vas and Pris

It's their forte. Come on! What do ou expect me to say? How long have they been dancing Ballroom and how many ballroom competitions have they joined and won? Well, their dance was nothing short of perfect. Just one thing that bothered me tho, "Pris, what's my table cloth doing as part of your outfit?". *Grinz*

2. SOul Fusion

I disagree with the judges. I thought Their ballroom performance was definitely top 4 material (Not to mention that the 2 spots are taken up by M&S and V&P). It wasn't as bad as what the judges mentioned. I loved how daphane played the man in the dance. She can really flip her partner around. Gosh, does she do that to her boyfriend too (if she has one =p). The stunts were great. They were the only group to do stunts this week. So Kudus to Soul fusion for pulling off the ballroom performance.

3. JDI

Boring, uninteresting, made me fall asleep. Whats up with so many stomping? I know its part of the genre but not too much of it right? Overall, it was the worst performance of the night.

4. F4

I loved their item. Thought that they did pretty good in fact =) Great choreography and good use of space although its only the 3 of them.

5. Melvin and Sharon

Singapore's Ballroom CHAMPIONS! what can we expect but the best from them isn't it? I thought the dance got a bit slow in the middle and bland. WHat do you think? Loved the costumes and i'm glad sharon didn't put too much tan this time round. ANyway, i was hoping for more so i thought this performace was ~ok for me.

6. Platinum

*Flashback*

Doesn't the starting look a bit like Victoria's Secret show? Hmm... I was wondering how much of originality was in it. Starting was good. Dance wasn't so Ballroom for me. I thought i was watching Crazy horse or something. However, they were sexy hot babes so who can resist?

I'm not going to give my Top and bottom 3 for this week... There's no point. It's a competition for the rich. ISn't it true? M&S and V&P has NEVER been in the bottom 3 though their performance round for some genres wasn't so 'Wow'. Those who learn from 'Shawn and Gladys' must be pretty well off to be spending that amount of money on classes.

So i'll end off this week with a side note: You never know who will fall into the bottom 3 each week. It's definitely not based on the skills of techniques the competitors have. It's how much the judges like them.

Comtemporary & Modern critiques...

Hey hey hey!

This week i'm going to critique. Rebecca's too busy with school work, thus that mild disappearance...

Anyway, for those who are waiting for the critiques on 'dance floor'...sorry to disappoint ya, I din manage to catch the first two groups (Platinum and JDI) so can't really comment on them but just the other five groups.

Ok so here's my comment on last week's modern/contemporary performances.

E square

-I feel that this is their best performance in the competition. The choreography is nice and I can feel for them in the dance. It is full of emotions and their technical capabilities at such a young age are impressive. This is definitely their round and they nailed it totally. I was very glad that they chose the song too because it just suits them so well!

Melvin & Sharon

-Satisfactory performance as compared to the rest. Nothing fascinating...believe they can do a much better job...talked to Melvin on Friday when I went to watch 'Stomp the Floor' competition. Heard from him that it had been a emotionally and physically draining week for them...guess it is probably because of the exiting of Batucadas and some bad rumors circulating around them. Nevertheless, I believe they will nail it for the ballroom performance! =)

Vas & Pris

-Not bad. Think they are clever in using some of their ballroom moves which are still applicable to the modern/contemp genre. I feel that it is good that they are doing what they are comfortable with, and yes, I can feel their love in the dance, just thought Pris should be more confident in answering George Chan's question instead of stumbling because it shows she is unsure of the emotion that she is potraying in the dance.

Soul Fusion

-Think they capable of something better. Maybe it is because they have performed better before so I was expecting more actually. Nevertheless, still a great performance. If E square is the best in this round, they are definitely the second.

-I enjoy their performance! The judges commented that their dance is not very modern/contemp, but I think it is not their fault. They are merely dancing to the feel of the song and I really like the choreography! I think they did a marvelous job despite missing hafeez.

Okay...basically thats about it...

If you guys would like to read more abt what WHY i didn't managed to catch the 1st 2 performance (platinum and JDI), you could read on to the next post... haha

my stupid day PLUS feeling about 'The Dancefloor' Programme

Well, let me just start on what had happened on Wednesday. I had an exam that day and it ended around 8pm. I though i could rush to watc'Dancefloor' at one of the coffee shops while having my dinner. BUT GUESS WHAT!? None of the coffee shops was showing channel 5! It was so infuriating! I couldn't understand why none of them wanna show 'dance floor' but some boring channel 8 programmes or movies from SCV instead.

This just makes me ponder about whether the dance floor programme is really well organised and properly planned, because it just seem that not much people knows about it or rather care about it. It is not gaining any recognition and popularity as compared to programmes like 'Singapore Idol', 'Superstar' etc. Although the subsequent seasons usually do not receive as much attention as the first season, you will still recognize and know the names of the idols...or at least the winners...isn't it??? Seems like there is not enough effort spent in promoting the show...hmm...cannot imagine how the 2nd season will be like... -_-

Eventually, I got no choice but to take a cab back to school and watch it using my laptop. It was already like 8.40. I called home and asked my brother who got eliminated in the end and I was so shocked that it was SFB!!! Though I didnt catch their performance, based on what Rebecca told mi and what I watch on the previews, I thought it was really one of the better ones. Well, guess it is all fate. But come to think of it....am I really surprised??? My answer is not really. From the very start, I kinda knew that this is not exactly a 'popularity contest'. Because you can be very popular and everyone likes you, but if no one wanna spend money to vote for ya, you will still be out of the competition. it is more of who are more willingly to fork out money to support their favourite group. Not to mention that definitely there will be groups voting for themselves also, just a matter of how much based on their financial ability (everyone does so, including ourselves...lolx). This is a problem that exists in the local TV reality show and yet to be addressed properly. Maybe I am wrong, but I think votings in American reality shows are actually free.

Enough said, so back to the 'bottom three issue'....really sad ya..to see the better groups to be at the bottom three. Well, all I can say is dun be surprised that it will be the same this coming week. Haha, I know it is a bit silly but anyone of you think that soul fusion being at the bottom three is actually pre-planned??? Otherwise, how can you explain the fact that there are so many people who like them and think they are good, and still they are at the bottom three. Or perhaps, it is just like what I mentioned above..hehe. And also there is a problem of soul fusion keep being at the bottom three and the judges saving them each and every week because it will discourage the public to spend money and vote for them since they know the judges will save them all the times and most importantly affect the morale of other competitors as they will unavoidably think that no matter how hard they work, the result is still the same as they are not appreciated as much as soul fusion. Anyway, I am quite confident that they will not be at the bottom three this coming wednesday, dun think they are so suay...so probably it will be JDI, Platinum and F4....why??? Cos they have been there b4 and it seems like they do not have not enough support as compared to the other groups like S & M, Vas & Pris and E square. ( For those who like JDI, F4 & Platinum...better vote!) There are times that these grps' performances are shaky and yet they have never been at the bottom three, so I am not surprised they will go all the way to the top 5, leaving the 2 spots to the remaining 4 grps to fight.

Wah...finally, I can relax at home. I have been busy with my play production last week..for those whom dun know, I am share majoring new media (something like mass comm in NUS) and theatre studies. And for third yr student in theatre studies, we have to come up with a gradation play production ourselves...wait... in case u are wondering, it is not some small school production k! Haha..we have to source for sponsors, location and everything lah. The play is held at national museum gallery theatre and tickets are sold through sistic at 16 bucks. Know it is a little too late cos the play is over already but still, for those who happen to have Thursday 'Life!' at home, you can go check it out...there is a small writeup on the play =)

Well, if you wonder why I never post on blog and ask you guys to support…it is actually cos I dun want u all to waste money as I dun think the play is very interesting (I am so gonna die if my professors read this!!!) And most importantly, I dun want you to see how I look like!!! (*kidding lah*). Hehe...but think I look quite good dressed up the past few days, as many who came actually complimented I am cute!!! (I am so thick skinned rite ^_^) Hee…some of them even came up to mi personally and told mi tat…I was so paiseh lah!!! Oh btw…I dun tink I am really cute, so pls dun tink I am egoistic k…haha ; )

Anyway, I am actually one of the leads in the play production but due to my ‘Dance Floor’ commitments, I have to give up my role and be in charge of the marketing side whereby I have to work with two other team members. Oh yah...by the way, I can’t stand one of them, so I am so glad that it is over so I won’t see her anymore...haha...Well, why i dun like her??? Just imagine u have to work with someone bossy, comes up with weird ideas, keeps thinking that she is right and dun wanna listen to others, only know how to talk big but dun really do work, act cute...especially like to ‘wayang’ and act sweet in front of the professors (thats disgusting k!)...blah blah blah...thats all I can think of now...haha...but seriously she is really the irritating...cannot tahan her!!!

Hey...Elson is a nice guy k...hehe..I hardly dun like people one...and I dun bear grudges...so for mi to dislike somebody, it is really quite difficult. Nevertheless, I dun really have the right to say her lah because I always never turn up for production meetings and honestly din do a lot as compared to many others because I was busy with 'Dance Floor'...seriously, 'Dance Floor' takes up lots of our time, and we never turn up for school during that period and somehow neglected our studies...well...but with no regrets after knowing there are so many people who like us!!! = )

- But the dance was great so it doesn’t matter if I’ve seen it somewhere before
- The last lift of the girl wasn’t so stable

Have you aLL taken the new Nokia SBS bus??? Oh man..it is damn cool lah...like as if we are inside a club like that..lolx. Was with Rebecca last Sunday and we took this bus 54 at Bishan to town...we were so fascinated by the interior of the bus!!! The seats are so comfy...hehe...you guys should go check it out man!!! [Although I am not too sure which buses are like these = ) ]

Currently, I am in school...slacking...drinking 'mocha fudge blend' at Gecko, a cafe in nus arts, with Rebecca..haha...It is raining heavily now...feel like going home and sleep can. But I can't cos gonna go to national museum at five for my graduation play production. And so...it means I cannot watch dance floor tonight! = (

Arggh!!! Think tonight will be interesting...Asian theme performance, something that I have been looking forward to...wondering what the groups have prepared. Guess it is time for others to tell me what's happening, who is good and no good instead ah...haha

Harlow!! Its been some time since I posted something...really sorry...haha...been busy with school. Anyway, just to correct rebecca...I din really think that SFB is the best lah...But I seriously thought they are the one of the better ones that nite.

To be honest, the four groups that I really like that nite will be F4, Platinum, SFB and Soul Fusion. The first half of the dance is okay...it is the second half of the competition that saves the nite, especially with F4 kick starting the whole thing and hype up the audience.

I like how Ewan impersonalized the geeky role from the start till the judges give their comments. I think it is really funny. Dancing involves acting and what they convinced the audience in believing and enjoying what you are doing. Really proud of them...as they stepped up and brought their performance to another notch as compared to last week. They are one group which I believe will be able to emerge as the top 5 not only because their excellence dance ability but also their strong stage presence...which I always feel is important. When I tok abot stage presence...I am not referring to whether they are good looking (well, I think they are actually...haha), but most importantly, it is how you carry yourself and the x-factor that you oozes when you dance. Keep up the good work my dear friends! ~lolx

Platinum is definitely one of the consistent competitors in this competition. Their dance performances are always of a certain standard and never fail to disappoint the audience. Well..what can I say..they are a bunch of 'power' gals!!! I think from this rock n roll item, they not only show that they are able to dance, but they are able to do what guys can do-stunts. I was really impressed with that. Haha...initially I thought only Marianne is the only one who can do so...guess I am wrong...cos most of them can...

SFB...haha...their performances neva fail to disappoint me each time. Although they might not be technically the strongest dancers in this competition, they make up with their creativity and their clever interpretation of the music. Their performances are always refreshing and I am impressed with how they choreograph their moves to the slightest beats. Well...I foresee that it is gonna be tough for them in the competition. Not because their dance is no good, but I think they lack a bit of 'stage presence' which probably explains why they are in the bottom three.
They have to think of ways to make the audience like them and ultimately vote for them...

Last but not least, soul fusion...what can I say??? Haha...they are definitely the strongest in this competition. In fact they are the potential winner in this competition. I cannot find any fault or flaw in them at all...lolx. Each round they performed, they surprised me...Initially during the shuffle round performance, I thought they are just technically strong. But after their disco showcase, I was totally amazed by what they performed. They did locking...which is O-school hip hop. Think if there is a hip hop performance round, it is definitely gonna be nothing to them!!! I am also impressed by their knowledge in dance when they mentioned about the history of locking and popping dyring the disco round. This is important because dancing is not merely about execution but also understanding how the dance evolves. This will help in the execution of moves. Then next will be their creativity. I never expect them to be so funny...haha...their disco and rock n roll items brought joy and entertainment to the audience. They have hence proven themselves that they are not only technically good, but also as creative and funny as their fellow competitors. SOOOO....there is no reason in where they are in the bottom three...

Or maybe there is....because this is after all a dance competition...not some singing or talent time competition whereby you will have hardcore fans who will keep voting for ya. Not to mention that the voting period lasts one whole week. Come on, dun talk about yr fans, even yr close friends and family members will not keep voting throughout the whole week. Even if they really do, I think you will feel paiseh and heart pain to see them spend money like that rite. Remember when I was still in the competition, I din dare to ask my friends and family members to vote for us, because each call is not cheap and if we din get in, their money will be wasted and we will feel bad that we disappoint them. So somehow we always have a 'leave it to fate' mentality and hope for the best....

Anyway it is good to have such competitions in Singapore to promote the dance scene in here. But I thought the system shuld change so that everyone have the ability to vote for the team they support and not based on one's financial ability so as make this competition fairer. It should not be used as a revenue to earn money. Otherwise, this competition will be dependent on who have more friends and fans that are more willing to spend money on you and not people who really like the group. Nevertheless, all the best to the teams out there k!!!

Hmm...for those that I have not mentioned anything..it is not that they are no good...but they have to work harder to stay in the competition. There is no point in me saying politically correct things here like 'everyone is so good' or 'all of them are my favorites'. Because if I do so, I am just being a hypocrite, and not helping them but making them worse. As a dancer, I think we must be able to accept criticism and if we keep indulging in your own 'world', there is no way we can improve.

Remembered on wednesday when I saw Melvin and Sharon at adam road eating, they asked us how is their item. I hesitated a while before I reply. I dun know if I should say the truth. Theirs is not no good because it lacks of flavor and not so interesting as compared to others. They are definitely much stronger in doing a slow item. Well, I eventually told how I really feel cos I do hope they will go far in this competition. Actually...we cannot really blame them because this competition itself is not fair already.

Have you ever wondered why they restrict the group members to be from 2-6? It is probably because they wanna people doing different genres of dance to enter the competition which obviously include dancers doing dance sport because it involves only 2 persons. This put duos, irregardless doing hip-hop, ballroom etc, into a great disadvantage because compared to a bigger group, they definitely lose out in terms of energy level, variation in formation and using of stage space which will affect their dance performances. So the beginning stage of the performance round, groups naturally fare better than the duos. However, this situation will change when we progress into the 'contemporary' and especially the 'ballroom' round. The greater number of members you have, it will be more difficult for ya to execute the dance.

Well, thats all from me...haha...Rebecca always complain about me that I do not know how to blog...my style of writing is boring etc, thats why hardly people comment. Yup, I do agree...lolx...come on..give mi some time lah, I am still new to blogging and I am not so good in writing and present myself..haha. I am doing all these for people who like R.E., and appreciates us. I do not want to be someone whom just fades off after exiting from the competition. We have to think of people who like us and wanna see more of us rite *hehe..that is if there is still people who like us lah! =)

The Dancefloor was Rock & Rollin'

Ok, i'm back again. Every single week i'll be doing this. Giving my personal opinion about The dancefloor performance for the week.

This is very simple, if u don't like what u see, u don't have to.

Ok i'll start with the bottom 3 for 'Disco' :

SFB, BFC & SOUL FUSION!

Someone pls tell me why soul fusion is in the bottom 3? I had a shock of my life. BUT i knew they weren't gg to leave the competition cos they're so strong and the judges love them.

BFC went home sadly. Oh well, i guessed it was coming. The moment the bottom 3 were announced, i knew they were gg home.

However i thought that these 3 groups shouldn't be in the bottom 3.... I have other 3 in my mind but i'm not going to mention it.

Ok, so here comes my analysis for 'Rock & Roll':

1. Melvin and Sharon

Nice costumes (i love the dress that sharon was wearing)
They stepped up to the ocassion this time round but i felt it still wasn't enough. Maybe it's because their shuffle round item was DAMN strong. I'm waiting to see more of that kind of performance.

They could probably spice things a little more and added an element of surprise in it to make them stand out more. (TEchniques + element of surprise = WOW!)

2. Vas & Pris

Good performance, in fact, maybe even better than the previous group.

I felt their passion in their dance.... awww.... so sweet.... they really love each other a whole lot =)

Nice execution of steps to a slow song

3. Batucadas

Nice start but what happened in the middle? It became a little 'slow' for me.

Overall, Nice stunts but i felt that the performance was a little bland.

4. E Squared

Cute duo. I think they're bubbly with great personality. But there're some ppl i know who can't stand their accent.
Evelyn had slight problems with her dress and Gladys Tay slammed her. Come on, Pris also had a wardrobe malfunction during the shuffle round and even praised her for continuing to dance. Hey, Evelyn also did the same thing and she didn't look the least affected by it. It is Biasness? Oh well, i think everything speaks for itself. Correct me if i'm wrong =)

5. F4

Performance was 'Geeky' in a good way. I loved they way they played with the concept.

But their style is getting a little too similar?

ANyway i love all of them =) They're all my friends! So if any of them is reading this, no hard feelings eh? Just a side note, maybe you guys can do a dance item that is slightly more exciting? Maybe have a peak somewhere? I'll definately see u guys in the final 5! I'm putting all my money on u all k!

6. Platinum

Very synchronised

Great start and ending.

Very energetic

Whatmore can i say, they're one of the stronger all-girls-group i've seen =)

7. SFB

Ok, so here is where the conflict between elson and i come in. He totally loved the item and thought it was the greatest! Well, i beg to differ. I thought that the dance was not too bad just the other groups really stepped it up. Thus their performance was a little too bland for me

I liked the 'cheeky-ness' they played with though.

8. Soul Fusion

MY FAVOURITE IN THIS COMPETITION! How can they be in the bottom 3? Come on! Open your eyes. It's real talent u're seeing here.

I love watching their item. It 's always refreshing and great to see them set the bar for the other groups

9. JDI

Like i always say, i love their personality, great buch of jokers that i love to hang around. They never fail to put a smile on my face.

Enough said, back to their performance. Seriously, i thought they are the weakest link this week. I was hoping they would step it up. But pls give them credits for trying. Cos afterall, it's not their kind of genre.

Hopefully they're able to do something creative and put better dancing into their 'Asian' theme. GO JDI!!!

Ok so who do u think will be in the bottom 3 for 'Rock and Roll'? My guess would be:

Well, u may not agree with my choices but it's just what i feel. My choices are not based on whether or not they're strong dancers cos allof them are damn strong. But my choices are based on "Audience Appeal". THough i like these groups, i think they don't have much audience appeal.

Afterall, this is a public space for one and all to give a piece of their minds.

Favourites for Disco Rd!

Woo...Rebecca is so critical...lolx. Nevertheless, it is always good to be honest with one's feelings rite??? Hmm..since she has already mentioned about what she felt about the performances, i shall not do the same. Afterall, I do agree with some of her comments too.

For this round, my personal favourites will be soul fusion and SFB. Soul fusion fuses locking into disco which is really a briliant idea. If it is me, I would actually do the same. That is the only way to stand out in this round. Moreover, because locking started in around 1970s, which is the same era as disco, it thus explains why the moves for both dances are slightly similar. Both involves a lot pointings and funky moves. For those who dun know...hehe...

'locking' (originally Campbellocking) is a style of funk dance and street dance, which is today also associated with hip hop. It is based on the concept of locking movements, which basically means freezing from a fast movement and landing in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing in the same speed as before.

It really helps to put in locking moves in this round because it helps in the choreography of the dance and allows you to showcase a variety of dance steps instead jus typical, cheesy disco moves. If you have noticed, those groups whom the judges like, they somehow or rather did some locking. Hmm...however many of them execute it wrongly..a lack of techniques which makes it loses its original flavor. Lockers whom see it will definitely condemn them..lolx. If you wanna know more about locking and its exact execution, you can always check out youtube.

Lastly, I shall tok about SFB. Well, I like their item cos it is really creative! I always believe that a dance item besides having nice dance moves, you must also be entertaining and able to wow the audience. So that is what I usually look for in a dance and personally what I always aim to achieve!

Will you be interested to see us do disco with locking? Haha...actually I thought of what I wanna do for disco round but unfortunately we do not have a chance to showcase it...hehe = )

Disco Lowdown

Ok, here's my analysis of the disco round. I went for the recording and i realised that what i see on TV ain't what u see in real life. So here's my 2-cents worth.

1. Batucadas

They had lifts and some nice moves but it definately was a disappointing act for me. I was expecting much more from these quartet who are 'Gladys' students (i heard). Come on, i didn't feel the groove and the energy. At least for me, i was watching it live at Mediacorp and i didn't feel like they were trying to reach out to the audience. I Couldn't wait for the dance to be over, Seriously! Their shuffle round item had more spunk and energy but this time they didn't bring it all out. Sadly to say, it didn't work for me.

2. Fantastic 4

It was obvious that one of them missed and forgot steps. Maybe Mediacop's camera angles favoured this quartet and didn't show it on TV.
They had the attitude and it was fun watching the 4 of them dance. But why am i disturbed at the fact that one of them forgot steps? Nevertheless, they definitely won't be the ones leaving this week, for sure. The judges simply love them.

3. E Squared

Come on, Share some love to this brave duo will u? I thknk this is their best performance i've seen so far and they've definitely showed their talent and skills. They're young, so what? They can dance! They may not be the strongest group but O can see that they're putting their heart and soul into this competition. And for me, the passion for dance warms my heart. I'm not sure whether they're in the favour of the voting public but i hope they have eyes to see. Somehow, i have this feeling that the judges don't really like them. But i love them anyhow =)

4. Vas and Pris

I'd rather walk my dog then watch them perform live that day. I mean seriously! They looked good on TV that day but it was all because of the camera angles. But in actual fact, watching it as an audience bores me to death. Like one of the judges said, they're better dancers than their disco performance. Maybe throwing on money will keep them in the competition....

5. BFC

It was a nice move to incorporate breakdancing into disco. But i'm disturbed at their locking moves. Ok i'm not only saying about BFC but most groups in general. Why does the locking moves seem wierd. I think they're all executing their moves wrongly. Sigh. WHat can i say.... But the whole item seems fine to me.

6. Soul Fusion

They're definitely the strongest and the most technical group in this competition. They have my vote! I don't need to say much. The result will show and they're staying in this competition. Look out Dancefloor contestants! They're the group to beat!

7. Styles from beyond

Heeleys used were one of a kind. Elson and I wanted to use it in our item actually. Haha. Great minds think alike. Great acting from them, nice moves and grooves.

8. JDI

Funny comical bunch of guys and i adore them. They're jokers and looking at their faces makes me smile all the time. Some gossip.... I heard one of their guys like someone from another group... haha. Keep the Laughing cells going man! Groove on JDI!

9. Melvin and Sharon

Maybe i expected too much from them. They disappointed me this disco round. I'm not saying that their dancing was bad but what i mean is that they set a high bar for themselves in the shuffle rounds and the disco item did not live up to the level they set. I hope to see more from them next week though. Hope they don't disappoint me...

10.Platinum

2 words to describe this group, 'Girl Power!' . Yup, i think their item was under rehearsed but it was still a great show. They're not leaving anytime soon... Stay on and show them what u've got! Go Platinum!

Ok, i know i shouldn't be doing this now as i have a Essay to hand in before 12pm tmr! Shit, but i'll make this short n sweet. Just a teeny weeny 5 mins....

Ok, The Top 10 teams have boogied-oogeyed their stuff on the Dancefloor today during the recording.

WoW - Teams:
1. E Squared (I think they did well this round despite what the judges say. Sometimes Judges are just BLIND and Stupid. Seriously)
2. Platinum (Didn't like the outfit but the dance was great!)
3. Soul Fusion (What can i say??? They're WOW. Note that it's in caps)

Disappointing - Teams:
1. Melvin and Sharon ( they're technically very strong and nice duo but just not 'interesting' enough for me)
2. Vas and Pris (Yet again, they're individually very strong dancers. However, watch and u'll know why they fall under this category. If the judges say the our previous performance had little dance, Theirs is worse this round...)

Some quick updates on 'R.E' ! There might be a collaboration between 'E' from 'R.E.', 'D' from D2k and freestylers from dancefloor. Haha...sounds exciting ya??? Since all of us are not in the competition anymore, it means we have more free time to perform outside..LOLx.

Well, nothing is confirmed now but let's just keep our fingers crossed (all of us are busy with our own committments so might not work put). However, if nothing goes wrong, we will be performing as a group at DXO for a hip hop showcase. If possible, I would like to invite my beloved fans there! (hehe..so thick-skinned rite)
Hopefully it is free entry so you all do not have to pay to go in and watch. Otherwise if it is possible, I will put you all under guestlist? Let's see how it works = )

Hmm...so now your question is how about our dear 'R'?
She is invited to do the show as well but she claims that she needs to take a break so too bad for people who likes 'R.E'...so you all know who to blame hor??? *large grin*

Anyway, something terrible happened in the morning!!! arrgh...my dad stepped onto my oakley specs which I left it on the floor beside my bed when he came into my room!!! Damn...that was such a spoiler for the day can!!! Instead of apologising, he scolded me for misplacing kept nagging non-stop...damn sianz...Got to send it for repair later..hopefully it can be repaired. Otherwise there goes my few hundred bucks. The worse is even it can be repaired, they might have to replace the frame and I still have to pay loh..shit man...I am already very broke liao cos of dance floor, got to buy this buy that...somemore no time to give tuition...haiz~

Then when I was on my way to school, I realised I missed my subject pool which I have to turn up to gain points for my module or I will get penalised. Already penalised half an hr the other time cos of dancefloor rehearsal...now another 1 hr...so I gotta cover 4.5 hours in total whereas others need to cover only 3 hrs!!! And I heard that there are no more upcoming pools so I will have to forfeit 10% of my final grade. I am so dead = (
Hope my suayness ends now...

Anyway, will be going down to watch dance floor disco performance round later. Hope it is gonna be good. By the way, do you guys know that Bill Cahoun, dancefloor judge, is choreographing a dance for Zoe Tay and Adrian Pang for the upcoming charity show? (k...maybe I am wrong but I saw him teaching them during an interview at the news yesterday)
Coincidentally, the theme that he uses for the dance is the mask changing thingy and has something to do with magic also...lolx..so ironic rite??? (hope u know what I am trying to imply)

Dearest all,

Thanks for everything you guys have done for us. I've received many mails from u all. Thanks for all the encouragement and support. Since it's quite tedious to reply to every single mail, i've decided to post it here for all to see. Transparency is the best policy! (haha, its true!)

So here goes:

1. Question: The masks u guys used this round wasn't very nice.
Answer: Firstly, do u know how long it takes to design and paint one mask? Not to mention that i'm the only one doing it cos Elson has not much creativity (haha, sorry elson. But u really cannot draw *grin*) But he helps out in decorating as and when he can. Secondly, TIME CONSTRAINT. Oh gosh, i can't emphasize the amount of time we had to practice and come up with an item. Haha, we only had 2 days?? Where got time to do nice masks. If everytime need to paint masks then maybe i should be a professional mask painter. =p Anyone want to hire me to paint masks as a profession?? *cheeky grin*

2. Question: Was the dropping of mask on purpose or was it by accident?
Answer: No it WASN'T by accident. Of course it was on PURPOSE!! It was part of our dance darlings. Otherwise we would have panicked and stopped the whole dance. Haha. But we were cool and composed so, YES, it was on PURPOSE!!! =)

3. Question: Are u guys really depressed?
Answer: Hmm, that's a really tough question. Well, on one hand we are pretty sad, but 'Depressed' is not the word to describe our feelings. Depressed is a strong word. Below is the definitions.

American Heritage Dictionary defines 'Sad' as : Affected or characterized by sorrow or unhappiness.

American Heritage Dictionary defines 'Depressed' as: Suffering from psychological depression.

So, hope it answers your question whether or not we're depressed. The definition for 'Depressed' is so funny lah! Hello, although we wear masks, We're not mentally unsound! *large grin*

Aftermath of dancefloor...

Just woke up...this is the first time in many weeks that I have had more than 6 hours of sleep! Haha...feeling relieved cos finally I can get back to studies now (for those who dun know, this is my last semester in NUS), so if I really get into top 10, I will probably have to take a semester break, and carry on my studies next year cos the schedule for 'Dancefloor' is very tight and the important dates fall on my school days..a bit dumb to do so rite...tats what my friends said..

Nevertheless, I am still very upset that R.E didn't get into the top 10. A bit lost and not used to the fact that we do not have to dance and go down to Media Corp for rehearsals anymore. Been thinking about it after the performance round that maybe if I approached the choreography another way, perhaps the results might be different. I should have not given the judges any chance to slam us...haiz...a big sorry to Rebecca that I pulled her down cos i didn't do a great job in the choreography and thank her for being so understanding this period...

Honestly speaking, if u were to ask me about wed's performance, I felt good and I thought it is better than the shuffle round item. I thought we showcase more dance this time round actually. Hmm...unfortunately, the judges thought otherwise. Till now, I will still constantly ask myself, 'Are we really tat bad???'

I received comments from different people that they enjoyed it and disagree with the judges, friends, families, dancefloor finalists and our beloved fans (there are some who thought that it is gd but the previous one is better though). Well, maybe they are just trying to be nice..hehe...tat I dun know. So I really dun understand why...Is it a fate? (Maybe they've already decided long ago who they wanted in this competition. Maybe the judges just didn't know how to appreciate such stuff? Many silly thought come into my mind...Haiz...sorry but I am more of a thinker and hence I tend to think a lot..lolx

No matter what it is, R.E has done their best! =) Really sorry to have disappointed our faimlies, friends and our beloved fans. Didn't expect us to come so far actually, to be into the top 32, then the top 16...really gotta thank all those people who have been supporting us all these while. Dun worry, we will not give up dancing and promise to deliver better dance performance next time. Will keep everyone updated about us..

Meanwhile, will get back to studies...been lagging behind...hand in assignments late, never attend tests, miss tutorials, unable to turn up for project meetings...blah blah blah...gotta end here. It is time to go school alreadie~~ =)

Wildcard round in 1 day!

Nerves are wrecking.... Wildcard round in day. Everytime i think about it, it sends jitters down my spine. But maybe that's a good thing. Keeps me up and going all the time. I think about the dance steps all the time. In my sleep, when i'm having classes, even when i'm in the toilet! Haha.

But, that's the only way for dance steps into your mind. =) I'm excited about this coming Wednesday and Thursday. Wed will be the performance and Thurday will be the results. Like what is on 'The Dancefloor' website, it quotes: Wildcard Round, It's Do or Die. Haha.

Whatever the outcome is, i know R.E. has done their best! We're looking forward to perform live on wed and results on thurs.

In the meantime, our schoolwork is pilling up and we're finding ways of 'slowly' clearing them. Studying is good for everyone so make sure u guys work hard out there! Life in NUS is getting more interesting Semester after semester. I get to meet different types of ppl and form new friendships!

But the Interesting thing is, Most of my friends don't know that i'm on DANCEFLOOR! haha...Cos we're wearing masks all the time. And who would believe if i said: '' Hey! That's me behind that masks!''. Most of them just laugh and roll their eyes. haha, But my friends are corny fun bunch pf ppl so it's ok =p

A bit sleepy and tired from today's dance prac so i'm gg to shower and go to dreamland soon.
